Local community workshop helps close the gap between contractors and the insurance companies

ORLANDO — Emergency remediation and restoration contractors have been experiencing difficulties getting paid by the insurance companies.

If an insurance company decides to deny or underpay a homeowner’s claim, a homeowner may hire an attorney or public adjuster who will work on a contingency basis (where the attorney recovers a fee only if the case prevails). The homeowner will likely sacrifice thousands of dollars in the hopes they might recover insurance benefits which they should have provided previously.

An emergency remediation contractor is the link between the homeowner, the public adjuster and the insurance carrier. The Insiders Secret Workshop is a seminar focused on restoration contractors to help their company and the homeowner through the insurance claims process. This workshop highlights on having the correct language in their contracts, tips when billing insurance adjusters, how to help the homeowner with their insurance coverage and much more.

The Insiders Secret Workshop was created by attorney Harvey V. Cohen from Cohen Battisti and Malik  in response to the 2004 hurricane season. “There were so many unresolved claims,  homeowner’s and restoration contractors were experiencing difficulties resolving their claims by the insurance carriers” said Harvey Cohen, “I knew I had to help our community understand the legality behind these issues and explain the available resources the state of Florida provides. As such, our firm strongly encourages other states to join Florida in enacting fee-shifting statutes to help empower homeowners and contractors to have their voices heard by the insurance industry.”

To RSVP for the Free Insiders Secret Workshop on January 16, 2013, in Orlando, please contact [email protected] or call the law office of Cohen Battisti and Malik at (407) 478-4878.
