Wagner Meters offers Temperature Adjustment Table for RH readings

ROGUE RIVER, OR — Wagner Meters (through a licensing agreement with CTLGroup) recently announced the exclusive release of a tool which estimates the relative humidity (RH) at service conditions of in-situ concrete RH (ASTM F2170) tests at non-service conditions, according to a release.

The purpose of the ASTM F2170 standard is to ensure that the equilibrium moisture level of the concrete is where it needs to be to successfully install the finished floor. With Wagner’s new Service Temperature Adjustment Table, flooring experts can better determine realistic project deadlines for flooring installations.

To estimate the expected in-situ RH of the concrete floor slab at service conditions, you only need three things: The current non-service in situ temperature of the concrete slab, the RH measurements of the concrete slab and the Wagner Meters Service Temperature Adjustment Table.

The instructions to estimate the expected service RH are as follows:

1. Determine the non-service condition temperature and the RH in the concrete slab.
2. Find the expected RH at service conditions by determining where the measured non-service condition slab temperature and RH cross on the table. For example, if the measured RH is 87 percent, and the measured slab temp is 60 degrees Fahrenheit, then the expected service RH would be 90 percent.

Failures, according to the Portland Cement Association, that have resulted in millions of dollars in damage annually to buildings in the United States.”

Wagner Meters emphasizes that the Service Temperature Adjustment Table is for estimation purposes only. The ASTM F2170 Standard mandates that service condition RH testing is done on concrete slabs before the finished flooring is installed. The acceptable level of RH is dependent on the flooring product and determined by the manufacturer.
