DES MOINES, IA — Wayne County, Nebraska declared a state of emergency after Friday's storms and an EF-4 tornado, WHOtv.com reported.

A tornado destroyed an industrial park, two-dozen businesses and ended up injuring 15 people, according to the article.

One family had their home leveled by the tornado, the article noted.

“It got really quiet and I heard it coming through the cornfield. I headed for the basement and closed the door behind me. Seconds later, the roof was gone and I could feel the suction of the door getting pulled and gravel hitting us in the face with the kids screaming,” tornado victim Matt Krusemark said in the article.

Officials said in the story that the path of destruction was widespread, and it will make it difficult to assess the damage.
