Propex celebrates Polybac’s bicentennial

HAZELHURST, GA —Propex Operating Co. LLC recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its carpet backing, Polybac, according to a press release.

Plolybac was the industry’s first synthetic primary backing and is one of several carpet backings made by Propex.

“With billions of square yards sold, Polybac was instrumental in the success and rapid growth of the carpet industry and it is still the dominant primary backing in the world today,” said David L. Gartshore, BU president of Furnishing Solutions.

The celebration was held at the company’s Hazlehurst, Georgia manufacturing location.
