J+J Flooring Groups’ new textile alternative to hard floors

DALTON, GA — During the recent Experience-sponsored pre-show Floorcovering Mill Tour, Cleanfax staff members, along with others from the floor care industry, were instantly interested in and excited about J+J Flooring Groups’ newest invention: Kinetex ®.
Why were we so interested? Because Kinetex is an entirely new kind of floor covering. According to J+J, it is “an advanced textile composite flooring that combines key attributes of soft-surface floor covering with the long-wearing performance characteristics of hard-surface flooring.” And the face fiber? Polyester.
During our tour, we were told it was akin to a “tightly knitted” material, and it was designed specifically to compete with hard floors, rather than carpet, with a smaller environmental footprint. And it offers a slew of advancements over hardwood, including better acoustics and IAQ, highly sustainable qualities, eliminated glare and safer, more effective outcomes — including virtually eliminating the slip-and-fall issue. Kinetex also is highly resistant to bleach and staining agents including blood, urine and betadine.
Commercial carpet cleaners who encounter this new flooring will find Kinetex cleaning comparable to carpet maintenance. It is easily vacuumed, and low-moisture encapsulation can be used for interim maintenance with hot water extraction for restorative cleaning, but dry compound chemistry should not be used with the floor covering. J+J also reports that Kinetex dries 75 percent faster than carpet because of its face construction, and dry time can be reduced with airmovers.
Expect to soon see Kinetex in commercial locations in your area, and find more information on it at www.jj-kinetex.com
