Executives seeking probation in fraud case

DENVER, CO — Michael Arthur Griggs and Charles Homer Sharp are seeking probation for their role in defrauding insurance companies out of more than $400,000, according to the Denver Business Journal.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 11, and federal prosecutors will be pushing for prison time for the former executives of Disaster Restoration Inc., the article stated.
According to the article, Griggs, the former owner, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy and 13 counts of mail fraud; Sharp was convicted on one count of conspiracy and nine counts of mail fraud.
In 2008, Griggs and Sharp were indicted on charges that they told subcontractors to inflate their bids in order to bill insurance companies with the inflated numbers, the article noted.
