Contec CEO honored by Upstate Employers Network

SPARTANBURG, SC — During the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Upstate Employers Network, Jack McBride, chief executive officer (CEO) of Contec Inc., was named the 2013 recipient of the Alan R. Willis Society of Service Award, according to a press release.

The Willis Award recognizes individuals whose unselfish community service and leadership make a difference; past recipients of the Willis Award make the selection each year, the release stated.

According to the release, since beginning Contec 1988, McBride has continually reinvested both professionally and personally in Spartanburg County and shares his time, talents and supports charitable giving.

The company, as well as Contec employees, are heavily involved in community activities, from Mobile Meals, The Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Upstate and globalbike, to many other upstate organizations, the release noted.

"The concepts of sharing and giving back are part of the culture at Contec, and Mr. McBride leads by example. He is personally involved in educational initiatives and non-profit organizations here in Spartanburg. He is extremely supportive of our employees and their individual community service interests, varied as they are," said Melissa Sullivan, marketing and communications director for Contec.
