IICRC’s December Journal of Cleaning, Restoration & Inspection now available
LAS VEGAS — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) recently released its December 2015 edition of The Journal of Cleaning, Restoration & Inspection, according to a press release.
The new issue, available online now, offers a number of peer-reviewed technical articles for industry professionals.
Within the journal, readers will find article topics ranging from a rundown of changes in the updated ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration to techniques for managing mold.

- The New ANSI/IICRC S500-2015 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration, by Mickey Lee
Mickey Lee, S500-2015 chair, describes the update process and explains key improvements found in the new standard.
- Understanding the Hazards of Fire Residue Encountered During the Restoration Process, by Michael A. Pinto, CSP, CMP and David A. Batts
After undertaking a comprehensive literature review, the authors present their findings concerning the content of airborne and settled fire soot. In addition, the need for personal protection equipment (PPE) is discussed.
- Basic Principles for Managing Mold, by Michael A. Berry, Ph.D.
The author describes and explains the role of mold in the natural environment, then suggests common-sense strategies for controlling and managing mold in built environments.
