MarketingZoo.com unveils free industry directory

You may have noticed that online directories and organizations (think Yelp, Thumbtack, Angies List, Home Advisor, Yellowpages, Better Business Bureau…and so on) are grabbing more and more of those precious first page Google spots. Just do a few searches for carpet cleaning or water damage in various cities and see for yourself.

Some of these ask you to pay for a listing. Yet, unfortunately, even when you’re lucky enough to be listed, most often you are sharing a page with your competitors, or at least a link to their web site. Maybe it’s down at the bottom of the page, but typically there are links to the local competition.

MarketingZoo.com, a member-supported provider of content and blogging services for cleaning and restoration firms, has introduced a different kind of directory that is free to its members: CleaningOutpost.com.

On Cleaning OutPost, each cleaning and restoration business gets an entire landing page to itsself, and they provide the content, whatever, they wish to promote. No other businesses are listed on their page. They get deep links to specific service pages on their website. They can even add a YouTube video if they like. Yet it typically takes less than 15 minutes for them to provide the information that makes their listing unique.

Each OutPost site landing page is mobile-ready and displays a call to action and contact information above the fold. There is a click-to-call feature so visitors can quickly make contact. In addition, each OutPost site page is fully optimized, and not for the benefit of the directory, but for the specific business that is listed. Optimization includes keyword and city names, title bar, the URL, meta description and even ALT tags on the offer or coupons image.

Pages are kept fresh and interesting through industry feeds including all content produced for MarketingZoo members and other industry and commercial resources.

MarketingZoo.com offers several levels of memberships, but an OutPost Site is free for all members regardless of the membership level they enjoy. View OutPost sites at CleaningOutpost.com.
