ISSA announces newly appointed executive director
NORTHBROOK, IL — ISSA, the international cleaning association, recently replaced its long-time leader John Garfinkel with newly appointed executive director John Barrett, according to a press release.
Barret brings with him more than 35 years of experience including time spent in executive roles with “some of the leading companies in the technology, manufacturing, distribution, private equity and service industries. He holds an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago.
In addition to his work experience, Barret also has served as an ISSA Board member for six years, including three as an officer, one of which he served as treasurer.
“We are extremely fortunate to have found a leader such as John Barrett,” ISSA President Alan Tomblin said in the release. “The search and selection committee had a plethora of worthy candidates. The committee is convinced John [Barrett] will lead ISSA into the future. He has a terrific staff and a solid foundation provided under Garfinkel’s leadership.”
Garfinkel, who lead ISSA for 25 years and was instrumental in its growth, will stay on through 2016 to help with the transition and advise. The ISSA Board began the search process to fill Garfinkel’s position earlier this year upon his request.
“Serving the association these last 25 years has been the highest honor and most rewarding experience in my 50 years within the cleaning industry,” Garfinkel shared in the release. “John [Barrett] is well-qualified and motivated to move us forward, having many years of leadership experience at the CEO level, both inside and outside our industry.”
