New CLEANING IS ESSENTIAL Regulatory Update Available Now
NORTHBROOK, Ill.—September 9, 2021— In this episode of CLEANING IS ESSENTIAL, John Nothdurft, director of Government Affairs for ISSA, discusses the top legislative and regulatory issues impacting the cleaning and restoration industry. Learn about the ISSA statement on the bipartisan infrastructure bill that was passed by the Senate; COVID-19 booster shots for essential workers coming this fall; and the announcement of two new ISSA government affairs advisory committee members. Watch the complete update below.
On August 21, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan infrastructure bill that calls for $550 billion in spending over five years. This money would be invested in broadband internet as well as roads, bridges, railways, and airports. The investment in transportation will be important to maintaining the supply chain for the cleaning industry. The bill now heads to the House which plans to vote on it by the end of September.
Pending FDA approval, frontline workers who received early doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible for a booster shot of the same vaccine as early as late September. ISSA continues to urge policy makers to give the frontline cleaning industry priority access to vaccines in order to protect workers.
Advisory committee members
ISSA recently announced two new members to its Government Affairs Advisory Committee. Ryan S. Bowley from SJ Johnson Professional and Keith Schneringer from WAXIE Sanitary Supply, an Envoy Solutions company, joined the GAAC in August. The GAAC is an important part of ISSA’s ongoing advocacy efforts on behalf of the cleaning industry.
