NC company celebrates 35 years
NEWLAND, NC — This year, Highland ProClean celebrates 35 years of providing cleaning and restoration services in Newland and the surrounding areas, according to a press release.
The company, which offers the full range of industry services, including carpet and upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, water damage and mold remediation and other restoration services, is a family business.
Ken Johansen started the business as a janitorial company, and eventually expanded to carpet and restoration. His son Andrew now owns the business.
“Back in the 70s it was kind of a new field. They used to build their own blowers and dehumidifiers and stands. It was all homemade and custom made back then because manufacturers didn’t produce the stuff they do now for doing restoration,” Andrew Johansen said in the release.
The company has changed with the times, making sure to keep workers’ certifications and training up-to-date and switching over to “green” cleaning materials.
“All the chemicals that we use are green, botanically-sourced chemicals. We don’t use any bleaches or anything toxic. The antimicrobial that we use is actually so safe you can drink it,” Johansen added.
The company looks forward to many more successful years serving northwest North Carolina.
