CMSapphire Scientific introduces a new dual-wand truckmount, combining proven components, solid design and operator convenience to provide the best customer value in a truckmount to date.

The new 460 is well-suited for heavy-duty use in both carpet cleaning and restoration work. Delivering heat and pressure along with last-step chemical injection, this unit is geared for optimal performance.

The 460 features a 38HP EPA-certified gas powered Kohler engine backed by Kohler’s 3-year warranty. A tube and shell oil cooler reduces engine oil temperature by 20 percent, increasing engine life and pre-heating incoming water. This oil cooler also adds an additional quart of oil to the engine lubrication system.

This new robust design includes the Gardner Denver Tri-Flow 408 blower which produces up to 455 CFM. The 408 blower utilizes oil on both ends with special clearances machined specifically for Sapphire Scientific cleaning equipment to maximize the heat output and blower efficiency.

The General high-pressure triplex water pump HTS2016S, which comes standard with hot seals and an electric clutch, produces up to 5.6 GPM for dual-wand operation. This pump also comes with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The 460 incorporates Sapphire’s patented heat exchange technology which maximizes the use of the engine and blower exhaust to deliver higher temperatures to the cleaning tool. The stainless steel water reservoir is vibration isolated to insulate against premature weld failure. Sapphire utilizes copper finned stainless steel tubing for optimal heat absorption in a non-clogging application. This heat exchange assembly also uses a pressure regulator system, eliminating the problematic float valves in older systems.

Operator convenience remains a focal point in Sapphire’s 460 design. Gauges, switches and controls are located at eye-level, while the thermostatic control system features an easy and reliable four-level temperature selector. The thermostatic system operates with a diverter valve that discharges excess temperature rather than dumping hot water to the recovery tank.

This unique feature preserves onboard fresh water supplies and prevents unnecessary filling of the recovery tank. The 22-inch wide rigid steel frame and changes in the muffler design allow for easier maintenance and serviceability of the vacuum pump belts. Sapphire’s proven belt cooling system is also incorporated into the frame design, and extends belt life significantly over competitive units.
