IICRC publishes newly revised Standard
LAS VEGAS — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) recently published the newly revised sixth edition of the ANSI-approved Standard — the ANSI/IICRC S100 Standard and IICRC R100 Reference Guide for Professional Inspection of Textile Floorcoverings, according to a press release.
“The revised ANSI/IICRC 2015 Standard and its accompanied R100 Reference Guide is full of updated information that will benefit all who choose to use it,” S100 Chair Doug Bradford said in the release. “Nine years in the making, the magic behind this revision is that our committee of industry-recognized professionals, with diverse training and technical backgrounds, were able to agree and legitimize the cleaning fundamentals that make up wet and dry textile floor covering cleaning systems used to maintain and clean carpets and rugs.”
The S100 Standard “describes the procedures, methods and systems to be followed when performing professional commercial and residential textile floor covering (e.g., carpet and rugs) maintenance and cleaning” without addressing specific restoration measures for contaminated floor coverings or evaluating or comparing cleaning methods.
“Special thanks to vice chair, Richard “Bo” Bodo, our committee members and all who volunteered their valuable time over the past three years,” Bradford added. “This document is dedicated to John Garger, our friend, who would always end his participation in meetings with. ‘Thank you for the time each and every one of you has dedicated. Your participation is sincerely appreciated. This ANSI/IICRC S100 revision would not have happened without you.’”
