DALTON, GA — The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) held its Annual Membership Meeting on November, 12, where it made multiple announcements, according to a press release.

Jim McCallum, of Milliken & Company, was welcomed to the Board of Directors by Chairman David Jolly.

Susan Rich Farris, director of corporate communications for Shaw Industries, was awarded the Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award, which recognizes exemplary service to the industry. Farris is the first woman to ever win the award.

“We’re blessed to have people like Susan Farris who give their time and talents to advancing CRI,” Joe Yarbrough, CRI president, said. “It’s great to see her honored with this prestigious award.”

The Chairman’s Award was presented posthumously to John Garger and accepted by his wife and daughters.

Yarbrough also used the meeting to thank CRI board president David Jolly, who soon will be replaced by Dan Frierson, for his time on the board.
