ARCS upcoming classes include online course
Salem, OR — The Association of Rug Care Specialists (ARCS) will offer four courses through February 2017, according to its website.
The organization will offer two four-day introductory courses live online. The first of these will take place August 4, 6, 11 and 13; the second is scheduled for February 2, 4, 9 and 11, 2016.
Introduction to Rug Care is “geared towards employees and those new to the industry…[giving] students the information they need to make informed cleaning decisions and speak confidently with customers about the cleaning process.”
The introductory course is divided into four 80-minute classes, which cover the basics of rug care, and each end with a review test. The classes are led by a live teacher who answers questions and involves students in discussion.
An intermediate rug cleaning course also will be offered in a two-day, eight-hour intensive learning course January 27 and 28, 2016 at Deep Eddy Rug & Carpet Cleaners in Austin, TX.
The Intermediate In-Plant Rug Cleaning 2016 course offers students a chance to learn more advanced cleaning chemistry, how to identify rug construction, rug intake assessment and more, including hands-on training with wet-cleaning.
Lastly, ARCS will hold a Certified Rug Specialist (CRS) class in February of 2017 in Dallas. This advanced level course is a four-day, advanced identification seminar for those who are already well-versed in rug ID “and looking to take the next step.”
ARCS explains, “In addition to identifying the rugs’ origins, the [advanced] class covers the practical uses for that knowledge, such as common pre-existing conditions, cleaning considerations common to the rug type and conversational knowledge, which helps to distinguish oneself in the marketplace.”

These classes are presented by ARCS in its efforts to advance “the art, business and science of rug care.” Introductory and intermediate classes are open to both ARCS members and nonmembers, while the advanced course is available only to ARCS members.
