Rug cleaning industry loses an icon

GOSHEN, IN — A. Ronald Moore "passed peacefully" on April 8, 2015, according to Obits for Life.

Moore, who was well known in the rug cleaning industry for his development of industry manufacturing equipment, had struggled with "an extended battle with cancer."

Born May 26, 1937 in Elkhart, Indiana, Moore graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1959 and shortly after took over operations of Moore's Incorporated, the family business, where he designed rug-industry equipment. He also served with the Indiana National Guard.

Moore is survived by fiancée, Carolyn Compton; daughters Carolyn Littlejohn and Rhonda Moore; grandchildren Mercy, Hope and Nathan Littlejohn; and niece Laura Nonte. He was proceeded in death by his wife Nelda F. Lauber, whom he married in 1966, and his sister Mary E. Buss.

Services will be held Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana, with burial to follow at Prairie Street Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday, April 10 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
