How do carpet cleaning business owners stay competitive in a tough marketplace? By analyzing industry data in the 2012 Carpet Cleaning Benchmarking Survey Report, sponsored by Prochem.

While some data remains fairly constant from year to year, key indicators prove how important it is to adjust the marketing and management plan to continually increase profitability.

The survey says

One of the highlights of this year’s report is in the category of total company sales revenue, especially for the $100,000-$149,000 range. In the 2011 report, 15 percent of respondents indicated their revenue was within that range. For 2012, that number jumped up to 20 percent. Those that hit the $2,000,000 to $4,999,999 mark jumped from three percent to five percent.

Respondents, on average, said they had a solid 41 percent profit margin.

Analyzing data for 2012, 25 percent of respondents said that business is stable, while 44 percent expect revenues to increase. Nearly 18 percent expect revenues to increase significantly.
