Mold victim wins $903K verdict
Monday, October 06, 2008
BARTOW, FL — A woman who claimed that a moldy new mansion caused her to suffer six bouts of pneumonia has won a $903,000 jury verdict against the builder, according to the Lakeland Ledger.

Under the verdict, Janice Martin Arnett will receive $718,000 for repairs and remediation and $185,000 in compensation for having to live outside the house for almost four years, the story stated.

Arnett had moved into the $1.4 million, 8,500-square-foot, lakefront mansion in July 2002, and there were immediate problems with water intrusion and mold which the builder was unable to correct, the story noted.

The builder is suing subcontractors he hired to build the mansion, the story added.
